Kenmore Sewing Machine

Sewing is a fun activity that can help you create beautiful garments, home decor items, and much more. One of the essential steps in sewing is threading the sewing machine properly. In this article, we will guide you through the process of threading a Kenmore sewing machine in easy steps.

Step 1: Wind the Bobbin

The first step in threading a Kenmore sewing machine is to wind the bobbin. Place the thread on the spool pin and guide it through the bobbin winder tension disc. Then, insert the bobbin onto the bobbin winder spindle and push it to the right. Place your foot on the foot pedal to start winding the bobbin. Once the bobbin is full, cut the thread and remove the bobbin from the spindle.

Step 2: Place the Bobbin into the Bobbin Case

Next, you need to place the bobbin into the bobbin case. Open the bobbin case and insert the bobbin with the thread tail pointing in the clockwise direction. Pull the thread through the slit and place the bobbin case back into the machine.

Step 3: Thread the Upper Thread

Upper Thread

Now that the bobbin is threaded, it's time to thread the upper thread. Place the spool of thread on the spool pin and guide it through the tension discs. Then, bring the thread down through the thread guide and around the take-up lever. Thread the needle from front to back and pull the thread through the needle.

Step 4: Raise the Bobbin Thread

After threading the upper thread, you need to raise the bobbin thread. Hold the upper thread with your left hand and turn the handwheel towards you with your right hand. As you turn the wheel, the needle will go down and come back up. You will see a loop of the bobbin thread at the back of the needle. Use a pair of scissors or tweezers to pull the bobbin thread out.

Step 5: Adjust the Tension

The final step is to adjust the tension. The tension dial is usually located on the front of the machine. Set the tension to the recommended setting for your fabric and thread type. If you are unsure, test the tension on a scrap piece of fabric before starting your project.
